Bible Study Lesson:

History of the Bible,

The New Testament

Text: Second Timothy, Chapter 3, Verse 16

There are 2 parts to the Holy Bible in the King James Version of the Bible; they are the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament has 39 Books in it, and the New Testament has 27 Books in it. There are a total of 66 Books in the Bible.

There are 14 other Books of Bible that were not included, which are called the Apocrypha, which means Hidden Books. These Books were originally in the King James Version of the Bible in 1611. These Books were between the Old and New Testament. It was decided by the Protestant Church to take out the Hidden Books, the Catholic Church has kept the Apocrypha within their Bible.

We have studied about the 10 Major Sections of the Old Testament. We are now looking at the New Testament. The New Testament is about Jesus and the Early Church. The first four books of the New Testament were written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The majority of the Books of the New Testament were written by Apostle Paul. We studied the Book of Acts, the the Book of Romans, the Books of First and Second Corinthians, the Book of Galatians, the Book of Ephesians, the Book of Philippians, Book of Colossians, First Thessalonians  and in this lesson, we are learning about the

Book of Second Thessalonians.

This Book was written by Apostle Paul in 50 A.D., and it is a follow up letter to the Church of Thessalonica. First Thessalonians shared with us on how to stay on the path and be Faithful Christians as the Body of Christ, waits for His Return to Earth again.

In the Book of Second Thessalonians, Apostle Paul writes to this Church about the DAY OF THE LORD, and the Judgement upon the Earth (See Chapter One). Chapter Two explains about the Lawlessness and Trials of Tribulations (See Verses 1-11). Verse 11, states that God has placed a strong delusion in the land where the people would believe a lie. Verse 12 says,  "that they will be damned who believed not the Truth, but have pleasure in unrighteousness."

We are to be thankful that God has chosen us for Salvation through Christ Jesus and has sanctified us by His Spirit and His Truth (Verse 13 of Chapter 2) . Apostle Paul encourages this Church of Thessalonica and us to Stand Firm in Our Faith, and Be Established in the Every Good Word and Work of the Kingdom.

Finally, in Chapter 3, Paul explains that every one that confesses Christ is not of Faith, and God will keep us from those who are in the Spirit of Error (Verses 1-3). We are to remove ourselves that do not follow after the Pattern of Christ Jesus and God's Holy Word.  We are to keep ourselves as an example to those others in the Faith and Way of God, as we patiently wait for Jesus' Return (See Chapter 3, Verses 6-15).

We are able to learn a great deal on keeping ourselves ready for the Day of the Lord in the present age. Reading God's Word is like reading the front page of a newspaper. Just as Apostle Paul gave the warning to the Church of Thessalonica, we too must Stay Ready and Be Ready for our Lord Savior,
Jesus Christ.
