Bible Study Lesson:

History of the Bible,

The New Testament

Text: Second Timothy, Chapter 3, Verse 16

There are 2 parts to the Holy Bible in the King James Version of the Bible; they are the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament has 39 Books in it, and the New Testament has 27 Books in it. There are a total of 66 Books in the Bible.

There are 14 other Books of Bible that were not included, which are called the Apocrypha, which means Hidden Books. These Books were originally in the King James Version of the Bible in 1611. These Books were between the Old and New Testament. It was decided by the Protestant Church to take out the Hidden Books, the Catholic Church has kept the Apocrypha within their Bible.

We have studied about the 10 Major Sections of the Old Testament. We are now looking at the New Testament. The New Testament is about Jesus and the Early Church. The first four books of the New Testament were written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The majority of the Books of the New Testament were written by Apostle Paul. We studied the Book of Acts, the the Book of Romans, the Books of First and Second Corinthians, the Book of Galatians, the Book of Ephesians, the Book of Philippians, Book of Colossians, First Thessalonians, Second Thessalonians, First Timothy, Second Timothy,  and in this lesson, we are learning about the

Book of Titus:

This Book was written by Apostle Paul between 65 to 66 A.D., and this Book of Titus is about the Call to do Good Works. Titus was on Apostle Paul's Missionary Team. Titus was sent to work with the Believers on the Isle of Crete, a Greek Island, who were not representing the Gospel of Jesus in a good manner. They had become unruly in their behavior.

1. In Chapter One, opens with Verse 1 and 2 that Apostle is a Servant of God, and an Apostle of Jesus operating in The Truth that is      after Godliness. Pertaining to the Hope of Eternal Life, which God has promised us, and the He cannot lie about this Promise. He shares that he has ordained Ministers, Elders, and Bishops, and what their qualifications and duties must be to honor the Jesus and the Kingdom of God.

2. Chapter Two, outlines what the Teaching Ministry consist of. This Ministry consist of Sound Doctrine. The Older Men are to instruct the young men on how to behave, and the Older Women are to instruct the young women on how to behave. Teaching them and us now to Adorn Ourselves in the Doctrine of God( Titus 2: 7-15).

3. Chapter 3, Apostle Paul , shares with Titus to explain to this Church in Crete to be Called to Good Works. They were not to be caught up in foolishness, and strange debates which would not Give God the Glory, and get Believers off track. The objective was to go after Good Works and Be Fruitful in the LORD.

4. Apostle Paul used the word KALOS, which means in Greek Noble, Beautiful. In Greek, KALOS, is to carry the implication of being Well Pleasing, Morally Good, State of Soundness, Health, Wholeness and Order. Some Christians have become unruly, and cannot be distinguished from non-believers in their words and deeds. There should be a clear distinction on who we serve , and our behavior needs to represent it. This was the Manifestation of Good Works that Apostle Paul wanted Titus to share with the Believers on the Isle of Crete. It is still applicable to us today as we continue to advance the Kingdom of God through the Gospel of Christ Jesus!
